It’s always winter. Written and directed by David Trueba
David Verdaguer returns to the orders of David Trueba with French actress Isabelle Renauld and Amaia Salamanca.
David Trueba adapts for the first time one of his novels to the cinema, ‘Blitz’, ten years after its publication.
David Trueba is shooting ‘Siempre es invierno’, produced by Ikiru Films, Atresmedia Cine, Blitz la Película AIE, La Terraza Films and Wrong Men, which will be distributed in theaters by Bteam Pictures.

After ‘Saben Aquell’, the filmmaker returns to David Verdaguer as the protagonist, accompanied by French actress Isabelle Renauld and Spanish actress Amaia Salamanca. The cast is completed by actors Jon Arias, Carla Nieto, Vito Sanz and Naiara Carmona.

SYNOPSIS
Miguel (David Verdaguer), a landscape architect, travels to Belgium with his girlfriend Marta (Amaia Salamanca) to participate in a congress. There the end of their relationship is precipitated and after the breakup with his partner decides to stay alone for a few more days to try to rebuild their future. Broken and out of place, Miguel meets Olga (Isabelle Renauld), a woman who works as a volunteer at the architecture congress. At her side, he will begin to rebuild himself and understand what his new life project consists of.
In the words of David Trueba: “I have never wanted to take my novels to the cinema. It seems to me that in their format they are complete and explained. Nor, when other directors have asked me to do so, have I been tempted to accept. But the case of ‘Blitz’ was something different, because it deals with something enormously graphic and visual, which is the perceptible passage of time on people. An element that in film can be enriched and that makes the challenge of adaptation more stimulating.”
Producer Jaime Ortiz de Artiñano highlights, “After the wonderful experience of working with David Trueba on ‘Saben Aquell’ it was clear to us at Atresmedia that we wanted to continue producing his films. David told us about ‘Blitz’, one of his most intimate and personal novels. It is a very original story full of nuances that talks about human relationships and how love can resurface in unpredictable ways”.
For producer Edmon Roch: “Combining seriousness with humor, ‘It’s Always Winter’ is an irresistible romantic tragicomedy that observes us and makes us better. Its effect is like that of a restorative embrace. It is a luxury to be able to work again with David Trueba, a humanist creator who knows how to portray people with tact and intelligence to build complex and close characters, who bring a lot of truth.”
‘Siempre es invierno‘ is a Spanish-Belgian co-production by Ikiru Films, Atresmedia Cine, Blitz la Película AIE, La Terraza Films and Wrong Men, with the participation of Netflix and Atresmedia, which is financed by the ICAA and supported by ICEC.
