The multi-awarded animation film by Ikiru Films aspires to one of the Ibero-American film awards, whose gala awards ceremony will be held in Madrid on April 27th.
Mariposas negras, the documentary film by Tenerife-born filmmaker David Baute (Garachico, 1974) that aims to raise awareness about the devastating consequences of climate change, is nominated in the category of Best Animated Film at the XII Platino Ibero-American Film Awards, whose gala will take place on April 27 in Madrid, at the Ifema. The awards ceremony, the most important in the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking film industry, returns to Spain after being held last year in Mexico, in Playa del Carmen, on the Riviera Maya.
Mariposas negras, produced by Edmon Roch, Marc Sabé and Cesar Zelada, is the result of more than 12 years of work investigating the phenomena produced by global warming and climate change as one of the causes of migratory movements. To date it has won, among other awards, the Forqué, Gaudí and Goya awards for best animated film.
Mariposas negras will compete for the Platinum award for best animated film with Arca de Noé (Sergio Machado, Alois di Leo), Capitán Avispa (Juan Gabriel Guerra and Jonnathan Meléndez), Dalia y el libro rojo (David Bisbano) and Guardiana de dragones (Salvador Simó Busom and Jianping Li).
