MARIPOSAS NEGRAS, the animated feature film by DAVID BAUTE, will be released in theaters on December 5

After a successful tour of international festivals that began at ANNECY, the film will have its national premiere in the Official Selection of the SITGES FESTIVAL.

Since its world premiere at the ANNECY International Animated Film Festival, BLACK BUTTERFLIES has flapped its wings on a prestigious festival tour around the world. It has also participated in the Annecy, MIFA, Impact Day, MIA-Market Animation, Ventana Sur and Animac markets.

This incipient and successful international career is now joined by the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia (Sitges Film Festival) where the film will celebrate its national premiere as part of the Anima’t and Sitges Collection Sections tomorrow, Friday, October 4.

Directed by David Baute after a production process of more than 8 years, the film will be released in theaters on December 5th distributed by Sideral Cinema.

MARIPOSAS NEGRAS is an ambitious film, inspired by the true story of three women, which proposes a journey from Africa, the Caribbean and Asia to an uncertain future for humanity. All this through an exquisite animation.

MARIPOSAS NEGRAS defends environmental values and seeks to raise awareness about climate change, migration, exile and the lives of underrepresented women around the world.

Mariposas Negras features music by Diego Navarro and an original song composed for the film by Panamanian singer-songwriter Rubén Blades.

SYNOPSIS:
Climate change impacts the lives of Tanit, Valeria and Shaila, three women from very different points of the planet but with something in common: all three lose everything due to the effect of global warming and are forced to migrate.

MARIPOSAS NEGRAS is produced by Ikiru Films (Edmon Roch), Tinglado Film (David Baute), Anangu Grup (Marc Sabé) and Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals, SA (Muntsa Tarrés, Xavier Romero) in co-production with Tunche Films, of Panama (César Zelada), and with the participation of Mogambo, RTVE, 3CAT and Radio Televisión Canaria, with the financing of ICAA and the support of ICEC, Government of the Canary Islands and Cabildo Insular de Tenerife.

Pink Parrot Media has acquired the worldwide rights. In Spain, MARIPOSAS NEGRAS will be released in theaters on December 5th by Sideral Cinema.
