‘Adú’, by Salvador Calvo, has received four awards

The cinema dresses up for its big night in Spain, the Goya Awards. In its thirty-fifth edition and for the fourth time, the big heads are delivered outside of Madrid, in Malaga. This time and due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was held in a hybrid format, with the Soho Theater as the face-to-face venue, and with Antonio Banderas and María Casado as presenters. Since the start of the gala, the coronavirus has marked the celebration that has begun with a minute of silence. ‘Adú‘, by Salvador Calvo, a Telecinco Cinema production has been one of the most awarded of the night with four awards.

Goya to the best film for ‘The girls’
‘The girls’ (Las Chicas Majicas, A.I.E., Inicia Films, S.L., Bteam Prods., S.L.), has won the Goya 2021 for best film. The film has surpassed ‘Adú’, (Un Mundo Prohibido, AIE, Telecinco Cinema, SAU, Ikiru Films, SL, La Terraza Films, SL), Ane (Amania Films), Rosa’s Wedding (Rosa’s Wedding The Movie , AIE, Turanga Films, SLU, Setembro Cine, SL, Tandem Films, SL), and Sentimental (Sentimentalfilm, AIE, Imposible Films, SL).

Goya for the best director for Salvador Calvo for ‘Adú’
Salvador Calvo won this Saturday with the Goya for the best director for the film ‘Adú’. Juanma Bajo Ulloa also competed in this category, for ‘Baby’; Iciar Bollain, for “Rosa’s wedding”; Isabel Coixet, for ‘It snows in Benidorm’.

Goya to the best leading actor for Mario Casas for ‘You will not kill’
Mario Casas has been awarded the Goya for the best leading actor for his performance in ‘You will not kill’. The actor was competing for this award with Javier Cámara, for ‘Sentimental’; Ernesto Alterio, for ‘A normal world’; and David Verdaguer, for ‘One for all’.

Goya honors for best leading actress for Patricia López Arnaiz for ‘Ane’
Patricia López Arnaiz has won the Goya for the best leading actress for her role in the film ‘Ane’. In this category, the actresses Amaia Aberasturi also competed for ‘Akelarre’; ‘Kiti Mánver, for‘ The inconvenience ’; and Candela Peña, for “Rosa’s wedding.”

Florian Zeller’s film ‘The Father’ (United Kingdom) has received the Goya for best European film. He was competing with ‘Corpus Christi’, Jan Komasa (Poland), ‘The Officer and the Spy’, by Roman Polanski (France), and ‘Falling’, by Viggo Mortensen (United Kingdom).

Goya for the best Ibero-American film is for ‘The forgetfulness that we will be’
The film ‘The forgetfulness that we will be’ (Colombia), by Fernando Trueba, has been awarded the Goya for the best Ibero-American film. The film has surpassed ‘El Agent Topo’, by Maite Alberdi (Chile); ‘La llorona’, by Jayro Bustamante (Guatemala), and ‘I’m not here anymore’, by Fernando Frías de la Parra (Mexico).

Goya to the best supporting actor for Alberto San Juan for ‘Sentimental’
Alberto San Juan has received the Goya for best supporting actor for his role in the film ‘Sentimental‘. The interpreters Álvaro Cervantes, for ‘Adú’; Sergi López, for “Rosa’s wedding”; and Juan Diego Botto, for ‘The Europeans’.

Goya for the best animated film for ‘La gallina Turuleca’
‘La gallina Turuleca’ (Brown Films, A.I.E., Gloriamundi Producciones, S.L., Producions A Fonsagrada, Tandem Films, S.L.) has received the Goya for best animated film. The film was one of the sure awards of the night, since it did not compete with any other production and was the only nominee in this category.

Goya for best documentary film for ‘The Year of Discovery’

Pilar Palomero has received the Goya for the best original screenplay for her work in ‘Girls’. Alejandro Hernández also competed in this category, for ‘Adú’; Claro García and Javier Fesser, for ‘Lamentable stories’; and Alicia Luna and Iciar Bollain, for “Rosa’s wedding.”
